We're having a little....

After many predictions, myths and believe it or not bets (a family of true Asians), the wait is finally over, we're having a little girl!

We are very excited that we now get to refer to Bean as "she" or "her."  However, Adam is now starting to get nervous about how he is going to deal with having 2 full time females in the house :)  I think he's also succumb to the fact that this little girl is going to have him wrapped around her finger, poor guy's a goner!  Her grandmother, all of her aunts and I, on the other hand are looking forward to all the cute outfits we can put her into.

Our lucky girl has already started receiving gifts in the mail.  She's very loved and very lucky; And we are very grateful for the amazing people and support we've got in our lives.

From Aunt Tiffany

She's quite the active baby. Since day 1 she has been giving us a show during her ultrasounds. She loves doing somersaults and punching/kicking the walls of her current home.  She also has had her stubborn moments, where she has not wanted to cooperate to take pictures, Adam said she gets that from me.  Below is one very good shot our technician was able to get last week.

The technician also said you can see in a few of the pictures that she has her legs crossed like a perfect little lady, Adam's response, "Good, it better stay that way."

With work trips, birthdays, our anniversary and Father's day, June is going to be a very busy month for us!  I think the next big project we've (Adam's) got is painting the nursery.  We had painted it when we first moved in, but now that we actually know she is going to be a girl, he's decided he doesn't like the current color anymore.

Now that the weather is finally starting to look nice, we're looking forward to being able to do some more outdoor walking and exploring our new neighborhood.

Can't believe we're already 20 weeks

We've reached the half-way mark, and I can't believe it's here already.  During the beginning of our first trimester, we kept talking about how we wished 20 weeks would hurry up and get here.  Well it's here, and I'm wishing time would move a little slower.  Especially now that all the sickness is gone and I'm feeling very good and able to enjoy all the little things.

We had another ultrasound appointment this week and it was a very exciting one.  "Bean or The Bean" as Adam and I have been using to refer to him/her is quickly growing!  I honestly feel like my tummy popped out of nowhere this week.  The doctor "reassured" me at our last appointment that I don't have very much room for my belly to grow up or down, due to my short torso, so I would most likely be growing out..comforting I know.  Bring on the body butters, lotions, oils, anything to postpone/minimize these stretch marks from coming; because based on my family's genetics, they're inevitable ;)

Our not so little Bean is a little bit ahead of schedule, measurement wise and also weighing a little heavier than the 20 week average at 12oz.  I'm convinced after viewing the ultrasound the extra weight is all in the head, he/she is going to have a large noggin like daddy, LOL.  I'm just kidding, kind of..

For the past week or so, I've been feeling weird flutters in my stomach, but wasn't completely sure of what they were.  On Tuesday night (May 21), after Allexies' Strings Recital I felt the flutter again, only a lot stronger - I can officially feel movement!  I tried to get Adam to feel too, however, we weren't quick enough, and he didn’t get a chance to feel.  Hopefully we'll move fast enough for him soon.  He keeps saying that Bean and I are always trying to party without him.

We also found out whether Bean is a little boy or girl, however, we're mean and are going to make you wait until our next posting :)  Until then, here are a few pictures on the progression of our pregnancy since the first ultrasound and a fun questionnaire, I’m going to try to continue keeping.

How far a long? 20 weeks
Maternity clothes? A mixture of both, normal clothes and a few maternity pieces.  I’m in LOVE with my maternity jeans though J

Stretch marks? Not yet
Sleep: Trying to adjust to not being able to sleep on my back or stomach..harder than I thought it would be.
Best moment this week: Getting to see Bean in the ultrasound and finding out the sex
Miss Anything? Raw sushi!
Movement: Starting to really feel it this week
Food cravings: Orange Julius’!  They're sooo delicious!
Anything making you queasy or sick: The thought of apple juice
Have you started to show yet: Yes I am
Labor Signs: No, thank goodness
Belly Button in or out? Still in
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Very happy
Looking forward to: Adam being able to feel Bean move

Another New Chapter

Adam and I were talking a week or so ago and I thought it would be fun to start a blog about our pregnancy and also about our lives in general; as things are beginning to change VERY QUICKLY for us!  With life constantly happening we thought it'd be fun to have somewhere to journal our adventures, milestones, learning moments and growing family.   We also thought with so many of our loved ones all over the place it would be a nice central outlet for us to share a glimpse into what's happening in our family.

2013 has been great to us so far and we can't wait to see what the rest of the year will bring!

We found out we were expecting mid-February.  After talking for a few months at the end of 2012 about trying for a baby, and talking to our doctor, we decided we'd start trying at the beginning of the year.  We honestly thought it would take a little bit before it actually happened, boy were we wrong!

I still remember dropping Adam off at the airport for a 3 (yes, ONLY 3) day business trip and calling my cousin, Maniwan, crying my eyes out.  Adam and/or I have always had to travel for work since we've been married. Some international trips have even spanned over 2 weeks, but for some reason I was really broken up about this trip.  She was convinced I was pregnant already.  "I kept saying, no way!  It's only the first week of February and it HAS to be too early to have signs."

I waited for Adam to get back and decided to take a test that weekend, it took a while but that second line showed up.  We were both excited, but also nervous that it may be a false positive.  So we decided to wait another week and took 2 more tests -- when you're REALLY pregnant that other line pops right up!

We also began building a new home in October of 2012, and moved in the first week of March 2013.  It was great watching everything happen and being apart of every process from start to finish, it's amazing how fast they can put a home up these days!

Moving all of the boxes and furniture went pretty smoothly, especially thanks to the Mooney's and my Uncle Kak.  Adam did a large chunk of the boxes each day himself as well, as I couldn't lift very much.  He's convinced I planned it just right ;)   We've been gradually unpacking since then and are just about done (2 months later) sorting through and putting everything away.  Next big project -- baby preparations!

Like I said, the year has started off great for us and we're feeling very happy and grateful.

Love,
Christina
